Huge building where I went for an ultra sound. Walked further than I had since being sick. Drove much further too...way down in Fletcher. The people making appointments sure weren't considering my gas costs!
Train service returned on Sat. to Black Mountain. It has not happened since Sept. 2024's storms washed away foundations of tracks many places. This was a freight train from Hickory to Asheville. I didn't hear when it went by, though usually it has horn toots which are obvious here. Must have been on the phone or something...
Yesterday was my granddaughter, Audrey's 24th birthday.
A UU Chalice with names of many important women submitted by various people.
My friend suggested that any writing motions give brain stimulation, therefore I don't have to write/draw anything with meaning in order to help my brain. Smart cookie. Soul growth might also be worthwhile, but I'll be happy with brain!

...Happy Birthday, Audrey!!!
ReplyDeleteThis grandmom is so proud of her.
DeleteMy brain doesn’t quite understand the bit about your brain.
ReplyDeleteThere's a theory that writing with your non-dominant hand, just strings of scribble, or spaghetti all over the page, can stimulate some parts of the brain. Creativity. So I'll take that and try it. Vonnegut may have known more about the soul and creativity, but I kind of like the psychological idea.
DeleteI like that graphic of UU Women in History!
ReplyDeleteI'm proud to have known one of the ministers on the base, Marjorie Bowens-Wheatley.
DeleteI used to ask my adult drawing students to draw with the non dominant hand. They'd panic at first, then realize it felt great and they could do it! Wake up, brain!
ReplyDeleteIt's always good to try something outside the box...the norm. Just to see how it feels!
DeleteHappy Birthday Audrey!
ReplyDeleteIf nothing else your appointments are getting you out and about!!
Eye, hand, brain coordination..very important whatever you do!!
Maybe my spaghetti art will lead to spaghetti thinking. But it might taste good...though probably not be "in good taste."
DeleteAssignment for the day: Write "I am stimulating my brain," one hundred times.
ReplyDeleteHa! Remember those stupid punishments in school they gave kids? "I will not talk in class"?
I do believe it is time for me to go to the beach. I need it.
Tee hee. I was a "good kid" so if I had to write anything, it was just to see how beautiful I could make the letters, or the paintings. It wasn't until I left school that I found out how to color outside the box...and got myself to find my Self.
DeleteHappy Birthday to your beautiful granddaughter! Glad you made your trips safely.
