It was a day to be outdoors. 84 F in the afternoon.
I'd approached the day with minimal plans, and wanted to experience a child-like day.
-------------------
First I ate lunch under the slightly blooming tree to the side of the tennis courts at Lake Tomahawk.
(More on blooms later!)
It was a beautiful day for Canada Geese, who are in mating season and quite vocal about who gets to swim with whom.
Also people walking and many dog walkers. And even a family fishing (more later!)
As you can see, this post is to skim the surface!
I just did so much yesterday!
---------------
Then I drove directly to the Blue Ridge Parkway, after finding the cheapest gas in the area.
----------------
I wanted to just sit at an overlook and see how my breathing did with a higher elevation. First stop, Haw Creek Valley, elevation 2720. (I live at approximately 2400 feet above sea level.)Yesterday I witnessed part of the Great Mother's March going to Washington DC. Here's my blog about it.

Good news from The Contrarian at 6:30pm yesterday:
What is Voice of America?
VOA is an independent broadcaster funded by the U.S. government that spreads accurate news to countries around the world. It especially seeks to distribute the facts to those living in countries without freedom of the press or independent journalism.
What does this mean?
The Voice of America will no longer be muted — the judge ordered that over a thousand VOA journalists and workers (who were put on administrative leave by the Trump Administration) must be reinstated by tomorrow. All other decisions that were made to gut the agency were ordered down to “statutory minimum and have been “vacated and set aside.”
Contrarian subscribers fuel victories against Trump in court
Your subscriptions help fund critical court cases like this one; successfully throwing sand in the gears of the Trump Administration’s unconstitutional attempts to control our media and silence the resistance.
A relief to have such a day! And a good idea trying different altitudes.
ReplyDeleteVoA. good. now PBS next?
Oh yes, but fingers and toes crossed about getting the Coast Guard and TSA funded first!
Delete...this seemed like a summer day in the 80s!
ReplyDeleteSo the weather lady also said. But into the 30s tonight...the yo-yo spring continues!
DeleteBeautiful day out, it good to enjoy the nice weather and sunshine.
ReplyDeleteLovely views from the parkway!
Take care, enjoy your day! Have a wonderful week!
I kept worrying that I would sunburn...but only put on sunblock at the start of the day. (Mental note, need to do it more often on days like this!) It was definitely a great day!
DeleteThat was a good idea, to test altitudes. But yes, a bit of a price at the end. Will you do this more, to build up?
ReplyDeleteThat's my plan...getting up to spending several hours at altitudes before considering moving to Colorado - our highest mountain, Mt. Mitchell is about the same altitude as Durango, 6500 feet.
DeleteGood news about Voice of America!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that the workers can go back to work today! But I wonder how many have been able to just wait for that news without getting other employment.
DeleteIt sounds like a beautiful day.
ReplyDeleteA day in a million perhaps.
DeleteWhat gorgeous views under that blue sky. Yes, the Canada geese here are very noisy at the moment too! You're very well prepared, testing out your breathing at higher altitudes. I'd never have thought to do that. Thankfully I don't have breathing problems but as a younger woman I was surprised to find myself feeling very uncomfortable at the cable car halt on the Zugspitze (Germany) which I think is about 9000 feet.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's quite a climb! I am surprised you have Canada geese too. Somehow I never thought of them getting to England. But of course, and now I wonder just how far flung they might be.
DeletePretty much limited to walking, I don't get very far, but I usually practice "minimal plans" as well :)
ReplyDeleteIt's a wonderful approach to life, which I embrace as much as possible, between all the appointments which demand arrival 15 minutes prior to. Then there's attending a lunch program, which I'll try to do this week. Last week I was not feeling well enough to attend. And the whole week is like a fog.

DeleteI can't help it. At first, I read Tanbark Ridge as Tabarnak, which, of course, the Catholic French use as a swear word although I think it just translates to Tabernacle. English cussing tends to relate more to bodily functions but French words are more religious.
ReplyDeleteWell, I didn't know that...though the Tabarnak word is used in Louise Penney's works sometimes, but of course does seem to be a swear word. Funny how languages do that.
DeleteWhat a pleasant day! No plans--just following your notions.
DeleteAnd this time they came out well! I sure hope that continues!
DeleteSounds like a very pleasant day. It was nice here too. This afternoon was a different story: cold!
ReplyDeleteI was so shocked when the Voice of America was shut down. I’m glad about the ruling.
