Christmas past

Fun times for children...that's what I think my family motto for Christmas must be.

Grownups are there to provide the kiddies with fun (who wrote that rule anyway?)...which these days means lots of presents.

Well kids, this Grandmama' is just baking up a storm, and sent "care packages" to you all.  If you live in Florida, you should receive them by Sat. 20th, and need to open and eat those muffins immediately!  Chocolate chip or banana flavored home-made from scratch muffins!

The picture above shows my sister amusing her kids and my youngest with one of the old favorite playthings...which even cats and dogs enjoy as well.  Now that's an inter-species toy!

Though this isn't a VERY old photo, I'm sharing this with Sepia Saturday meme...come on over and scroll to the bottom of the page to click on names of others who have also posted on their blogs...some rare and enjoyable photos!  And leave comments too...we're a friendly bunch.

  5. A welcoming post right from that bright red door and Christmas wreath and a joyful photo too. It’s true that children (and others) will play quite happily with the box their toys come packaged in. Happy Christmas to you and yours Barbara.

  6. Cardboard boxes are great, full stop. Paint or draw on them, cut out window shapes, fold them - they can be anything you want.

  7. An instant cubby house/hidey hole, and never mind what came in the box :-) Fun, fun!

  8. I love peanutbutter cookies. Do you make peanutbutter cookies? Or my grandmother's Sinsation cookies made with peanutbutter, rolled oats, and chocolate. Yum. Fresh baked cookies & muffins are always the best no matter what kind.

  9. Not two minutes ago I had a slice of Xmas pound cake fresh from grandma's (my mom) oven! We talked about how many her mom (my grandma) made over the years, wrapped in foil, and stored in nice round tins. Best tradition ever.
My best wishes for lots of holiday cheer.

  10. A cardboard fort! Doesn't get any better than that. Sometimes the box really is the best gift of all.

    Have a wonderful holiday!
